54% of possesion and 10 shots in one game (3 against the woodwork). Last year we played four or five at least without having a single shot including 3 games in a row without creating a single chance. All this with a second division side away to European competition. Very refreshing to see and a credit to all involved. I'm looking forward to this season and the new era of CH. **thumbup |

And considering the bare-bones nature of the squad CH is doing a great job already :). I felt proud to see us battle to create chances last night. Next Thursday is going to be a big big match :) |

After the last 2 months of last season I was at my lowest ebb as a Blues supporter of 55 years. I prayed for AM to be fired or to resign as I saw what he had turned us in to over 12 short months. From that fantastic run of unbeaten games in the 2009-10 season where in every game we played with 2 strikers to sinking to a don't lose at all costs formula that brought ultimate disaster. I honestly don't know how the Board gave him a vote of confidence after we were relegated. Thankfully it all turned out well in the end and we even made some money out of the deal. As I watched yesterdays game I could only wonder what we would have seen had AM still been in charge, certainly not 10 shots on goal, we may not even have gotten in to their half that often. All this comes around to me wanting to thank Chris Hughton for giving us a fresh start, for giving us attacking football where chances are created. We might not have the so called “stars” of last year but we do have a thin squad of players who want to play entertaining football a squad that are proud to be playing in the blue shirt. It's early days to be getting carried away and it will be along and difficult season but now once again we have a manager and squad that so far can be well pleased with their progress. |

Agreed, really enjoyed watching the battling performance last night from our new group of cast offs and free transfers than almost any of the dross McLeish served up, i really do dread to think what his approach to last nights fixture would have been. Well done Chris and the lads :applause: **thumbup |

When we beat Chelsea 1-0 I seem to remember we had 1 shot and they had 21 |

6 times we've hit the bar in 3 games this season! Don't think we even came close to hitting the bar in most games last season.. |

I watched the game in a pub last night and was so proud of the guys and the performance. I commented that we would not have played like this had Mcliar still be in charge would have been across and back (boring tactics) So refreshing now, well done to Chris for what he is doing KRO |

Very refreshing to see us passing the ball and moving! It's still very early days but I can see Chris Hughton is getting his tactics and footballing philosophy across. We could've won this game 3-0 if the goals had thinner paint on the woodwork! KRO **thumbup |

One never stops learning. When I saw the team sheet, and especially the formation, I was upset to see Rooney on the bench. To then also see Ridge out of the back 4 was surprising and I personally wondered what on earth our manager was doing........... In personally wanting to see us playing 4-4-2 - last night the lesson was made. 4-1-4-1 and wow what a performance and a great result. I know why Ill never be a manager and well done boss! Only one point though - stop the players hitting the woodwork :-) :applause: |

Maybe you are right - im only going by what they said on radio WM whereby I heard Ridge was sitting in front of the back 4 but hey 4 or 5 or 10 I dont care - it was a great result. KRO. |

he may well have been a defensive mid on the blues site it says 4-1-4-1 but reading it orginally it looked asif murphy and carr were going to be full backs with davies caldwell and ridge as cb but personally a 0-0 draws a good result for us imo and it gives us a massive chance of progessing |

Read the reports and listen to Hughton. Blues played 4-1-4-1 with Ridgewell playing in front of the back four. |

I agree it's brilliant to see a Blues team so eager to attack. And last night's result was a fairly good one. But ... on a realistic note, we were clearly the better team and should have won - and we didn't. They were good in possession, but their pace and strength was that of a League 1 side - and Blues should have disposed of them really. I'll be shocked if we don't beat them comfortably on thursday. :blues: |

ridgewell was not playing in the back 4.. he was playing just in front of the back 4 , as a holding midfielder.. most of the time to me it seemed like we were playing a 4-3-3... like this ...........................Myhill Carr.........Caldwell.....Davies........Murphy ................................................................. ............................Ridge .................................................................. ................Spector.....Beausejour .................................................................. ......Burke................................Redmond ............................Wood |
